Description
The silvestrii species group is currently defined largely by the absence of features that define the other two Fopius species groups: the second metasomal tergum is unsculptured and the setae on the ovipositor sheath are not reduced.

Fopius silvestrii has been reared from medfly, Ceratitis capitata, infesting coffee, and Dacus bivittatus (Bigot) infesting squash (Steck et al. 1986, Wharton 1987).
